This is one of the happiest blog posts that I get to write. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to get the chance to, but I’ve always wondered how this blog post would go. This blog has been a part of my life for years. It has seen me through almost everything, and I knew I had to share the news.
A and I could not be more excited about this. He’s so happy, and he basically sings the news to strangers. It’s quite adorable. I know it seems like we’ve waited a while to tell the news, but the news is almost just as new to us as it is to you. So hopefully I can answer some questions below.
Nickname for the baby? Dumpling.
When did you find out? Honestly? Not too long ago. Less than a month ago.
How far along are you? Approximately 28 weeks. Third trimester already. I missed the beginning, again.
What is your due date? The beginning of August. No period to base off of, so they’re going by measurements of the baby. I’ve had to get quite a few ultrasounds since they didn’t even realize Plum was there. The first week, Plum measured big and that put me due in July and then Plum measured a little on the smaller side and that puts me in August. The doctor picked a date right in the middle. I probably have to go in one more time to see if the dates change again or stay the same.
Do you know the sex? Nope, A and I decided to go Team Green. We have one of each, so we want to see if we can hold out. And since there’s only 1 trimester left, that’s less time to debate about it.
Any names? Nope, but the kiddos have been arguing. Birdie wants a girl. Tot wants a boy.
How are you hiding the bump? What bump? I’m waiting on it. Sometimes I guess you can kinda tell, or you just think I might be putting on some weight in the mid section. But honestly there’s nothing too obvious yet.
How did you tell your family? We were actually waiting to tell everyone together in person for my family, but we were never able to all get together. So A dropped a photo in our group chat. They didn’t get it, at all. It took a while. Then A dropped the same photo in his family’s group chat and they got it right away.
How did you not notice? This part is kind of long, and a little bit TMI — so stop reading if that bothers you. I haven’t had my period in years. I never get it when I’m breastfeeding — that’s how I went so long without knowing about Tot. No period while breastfeeding, go to wean, still no period and then, BABY. I’ve been sick, but when I went to the doctors, they said it was the cold and then it was the flu. I was having some pains in my side and my abdomen, so I went back to the doctor. They automatically said I wasn’t pregnant, because the urine tests came back negative. So back to the drawing board. Got some blood work drawn, inconclusive. Finally, a doctor took pity on me and wanted to ultrasound the area. I still remember the tech’s face when she put that wand on my abdomen and there was a baby giving the finger back. Everything after that is pretty much a blur, with her yelling for the doctor and her supervisor.
Our hearts are so full. We are so excited. I love that I get to share this adventure with the blog. This is going to be one of our greatest years!
